Welcome to Heyworth Community Unit School District #4! I am really excited to serve in such a caring community that is supportive of the school district. We have a great team of educators who are innovative and committed to continuous learning and professional development. Below is a list of some of our recent accomplishments and information about upcoming projects. Some highlights include:

  • Revised Mission Statement: Heyworth CUSD #4 is committed to preparing all students for success.
  • Ended fiscal year 2017 with a $200,000 surplus, which is challenging with reduced state funding.
  • Secured grant funds to construct a Fit Pit at the end of our practice field, which will be used by our junior high PE students and community members.
  • Aligned math curriculum in kindergarten through sixth grade and expanded our 1st grade reading curriculum to kindergarten and third grade.
  • Increased enrollment in dual credit and Bloomington Area Career Center courses so high school students can earn college credits and workplace certifications before they graduate.
  • Upgraded sound systems in both gymnasiums and jr/sr high cafeteria.
  • Secured grant funds to continue summer fine arts camps at the elementary school.
  • Improved Safety by upgrading our surveillance system, creating online safety plans, and redesigning pick up and drop off at the elementary school.
  • Constructed a new Greenhouse at the Jr/Sr High School for use by our FFA program and also science teachers and students.
  • Purchased new weight room equipment to better serve our PE students and athletes.
  • Upgraded our website to be more user-friendly, informative, and also serve as a marketing tool for our schools.
  • Distributed individual learning devices (Chromebooks) for every student so that we can be sure our students are prepared for the future.
  • Engaged the community in the process to develop a 10 Year Master Plan for school facilities.
  • Upgraded baseball and softball fields and entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the Village of Heyworth and Summer League to share responsibilities at Centennial Park.
  • Fixing/replacing fencing at Hornet Stadium and moving in softball fence to meet regulations also.
  • Painting JH hallways and installing new student lockers.
  • Renovating JH restrooms.
  • Implementing LEAP Program at Heyworth Elementary School to engage students and STEAM activities and provide enrichment support.
