Welcome to Heyworth Jr. Sr. High School! I’ll be will embarking on my second year as principal of our 7th-12th grade building. Serving our families of Heyworth has truly been a rewarding experience; I am proud to say that we have one of the most top notch staff teams in Central Illinois. As a team, we support and nurture our students to meet their individual needs. Because of this team approach we have been able to implement classes and programs that were developed based on student interests. We serve outstanding families that value education and are committed to the success of our students. The support of the community has been vital to our success. Although Heyworth is a small town, we have big goals to provide our families with the absolute best educational experience possible.
Each year we assess our programs to ensure that we are offering our students opportunities to engage in rigorous coursework, earn college credit, experience accredited career and technical applications, and take elective courses that fulfill their interests.
Based on our assessment of the 2017-2018 school year, we are making some changes to our curriculum and course offerings. The 2018-2019 school year will provide students with the most dual credit courses we have ever offered at the high school; we are offering the first ever Spanish dual credit course through Heartland Community College. We are also adding Advanced Placement Literature to our Language Arts offerings. We will continue to work with the Bloomington Area Career Center to provide our students with career and technical learning while we offer a Work Program, Video Production, Agricultural Science and Journalism on campus. Based on student interests, our Junior High students will benefit from two new electives, Drama and Intro to Agriculture.
I look forward to continuing to serve our Heyworth families as the Jr. Sr. High School principal. My door is always open to any ideas, concerns, or compliments! Please do not hesitate to email or call me. Have a safe and wonderful summer!
