Heyworth CUSD #4 Assessment Schedule
Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR)
The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is the state assessment and accountability measure for Illinois students enrolled in a public school district. IAR assesses the New Illinois Learning Standards incorporating the Common Core, and will be administered in English/Language Arts and Mathematics.
IAR assessments in English /Language Arts and Mathematics will be administered to all students in grades 3-8.
These state tests are one of several ways that student achievement is measured in CUSD 4. Your child’s daily school work, teacher comments, and report cards are also important when determining overall school achievement.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s performance, be sure to talk with your child’s teacher or principal.
SAT Suite of Assessments
Heyworth School District administers an SAT Suite assessment to students in ninth through eleventh grades. These provide students, parents, and teachers with information on how each student is progressing towards his or her high school graduation with an eye on what will come after high school. As a district, this information is also used to help evaluate curriculum and programs.
The PSAT 8/9 is the first in the College Board's “SAT Suite of Assessments” and is offered to ninth graders. The purpose of the PSAT 8/9 is to establish a starting point in terms of college and career readiness as students transition to high school.
The PSAT 10 is a practice SAT exam. Its scores will also be reported on the same scale as the new SAT. The PSAT 10 is designed specifically for sophomores in high school, so its questions are not as difficult as the PSAT/NMSQT, which is designed for juniors.
The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test administered by the College Board. The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college, and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important SAT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.
The Dynamic Learning Maps® (DLM®) Alternate Assessment
All children participate in state accountability assessments. The Dynamic Learning Maps® (DLM®) Alternate Assessment Consortium provides an instructionally relevant system that supports student learning and measures what students with significant cognitive disabilities know and can do. The system uses the DLM Essential Elements to support the design of individualized experiences for each student by presenting questions and tasks that are appropriate for a student’s needs and abilities.

Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)
Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) is a state-aligned computerized adaptive assessment program that provides educators with the information they need to improve teaching and learning and make student-focused, data-driven decisions. Students in grades one through eight are tested three times per year in math and reading. Educators use the growth and achievement data from MAP to develop targeted instructional strategies and to plan school improvement.
AimsWebPlus gives educators the data they need to make informed decisions early, before students fall seriously behind. Through universal screening and benchmarking, AimswebPlus identifies and groups students according to risk. Student performance is compared to established cut scores and national or local norms. Students in kindergarten and first grade are tested three times per year in math and reading. Older grades are tested on an as need basis.
