Paraprofessionals

Paraprofessionals play a vital role in the classroom. Heyworth CUSD #4 employs licensed paraprofessionals to provide direct support to students across the district from early learning to high school.  The relationship between teachers and paraprofessionals not only serves as a social model for students but can also provide great opportunities for instruction and learning.   In addition to providing support to students, each Paraprofessional performs many other responsibilities within their day. 

 

  • Work collaboratively with students, teachers, parents and administrators

  • Implementing teacher- planned instruction

  • Supporting individual student needs

  • Supervising small groups of students

  • Providing behavioral and social supports

  • Assisting students with personal care

  • Demonstrates flexibility

  • Meets/ escorts students as designated times

  • Completes checklists/ point sheets/ data charts on student performance

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations with administration, staff and students

  • Demonstrates effective communication skills

  • Participates in professional growth activities
